A care home like no other in Lyndhurst
Originally serving as a Red Cross Auxiliary hospital during WWII, the beautiful Grade II listed building has received a new lease-of-life offering 50 spacious en-suite bedrooms, exclusive lounges, and person-centred care within a deluxe residential care environment
Sitting ideally on the A35 Bournemouth Road, Hartwood House care home is easily accessible from the nearby villages of Brockenhurst, Emery Down, Colbury, Cadnam and Beaulieu.
Bedrooms
With 50 spacious ensuite bedrooms set within a beautiful Grade II listed building, there’s plenty to take comfort from at Hartwood House. Each bedroom is fully furnished including a 3/4 size electric profiling bed, storage units, furniture, TV plus telephone and WIFI to keep you connected with friends and family.
Most ground-floor rooms also enjoy direct access onto the patio gardens; perfect to take in the views of the landscaped gardens and enjoy the summer months without stepping too far from your own room.
Limewood Café
The stylish Limewood Café is the perfect place to enjoy the company of friends for a morning coffee and freshly made delicacies, or simply a pre-lunch aperitif. Head down to the ground floor café, which, due to the unique topography of Hartwood House, leads out directly onto the roof terrace which overlooks the rose gardens below.
Resident Lounges
Our resident lounges offer a welcoming space for socialising, enjoying a quiet read, or participating in seated exercise classes. Beautifully furnished and filled with natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows, they provide stunning views of the landscaped gardens, creating the perfect setting to relax in the company of like-minded residents.

Discover a taste sensation with a difference at Hartwood House where our award-winning Head Chef will serve delicious restaurant-style meals according to individual dietary requirements. The Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coordinators ensure everyday is full of fun and meaningful activities to keep residents physically and mentally engaged. Each activity is carefully planned to reflect personal interests, whilst encouraging residents to take part in new pursuits.
Whilst having our own transport and driver means residents are able to visit local places of interest such as the New Forest Heritage Centre plus a variety of traditional shops and tea rooms in the village of Lyndhurst.

At Hartwood House delicious food is always on the menu with tasty seasonal choices that have been made with the finest ingredients. Each meal is nutritionally balanced and prepared according to individual dietary requirements.
In between meal times there’s always delicious cakes and dainties on offer in the lounges, to wash down with freshly brewed tea and coffee. Enjoy socialising with new-found friends in the comfortable lounges where you’ll always find a tasty snack to nibble on.
