The Gables Care Home Celebrates Top Marks from the Care Quality Commission
Our Hagley care home is celebrating after achieving a ‘Good’ rating in all five areas following its latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The Gables Care Home was rated Good for being Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led, recognising the home’s consistent standards and strong leadership.
Mark Shockledge, Operations Manager, said, “To achieve a ‘Good’ rating across all five areas is something the whole team should be incredibly proud of. What stands out in this report is not just compliance, but genuine kindness, empathy and professionalism. Delivering high-quality care isn’t about one inspection day; it’s about the small, consistent actions that happen every single day. This rating reflects the culture within The Gables and the dedication of a team who truly put residents at the heart of everything they do.”
Inspectors praised the caring culture within the home, reporting, “The provider always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity.”
Residents and relatives shared positive feedback during the inspection. One resident said, “The staff are lovely, they always knock on my door and greet me with a smile.”
Another commented, “I like living here, the staff are kind, they respect my wishes, I have not had any issues.”
Relatives also highlighted the team’s professionalism and patience, with one saying, “The staff are always welcoming and professional. I thought at first, how long will this last, but no, they remain just the same. They have endless patience.”
The report noted that people were treated as individuals, with care tailored around their strengths, preferences and personal histories. Inspectors observed staff responding quickly to people’s needs and supporting residents to maintain independence and choice in their daily lives.
