Vivaldi social care programme coming soon to all Cinnamon care home
Cinnamon Care Collection is expanding its involvement in the national Vivaldi Social Care programme across its portfolio of 25 care homes, helping to improve infection prevention, identify risks earlier and support better outcomes for older people. Vivaldi Social Care is a national research programme helping care homes use data to better understand and manage infection risks, while improving the quality and safety of care.
The initiative enables more Cinnamon Care Collection homes to contribute anonymised routine care data to a major research and surveillance programme, linking care home information with NHS datasets. This helps create a clearer picture of residents’ health needs, supporting earlier intervention, preventative care and more joined-up support between health and social care services.
The expansion was showcased during a recent visit to Eden Court Care Home in Battersea, where the home welcomed Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) Chief Scientific Adviser Professor Lucy Chappell and senior sector leaders to learn more about its involvement in the programme.
Led by University College London (UCL) in partnership with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), NHS England, Care England and The Outstanding Society, Vivaldi Social Care builds on the original Vivaldi study launched in 2020. The programme was created to address gaps in care home health data during the pandemic and has since evolved into a wider initiative supporting long-term research, infection monitoring and improvements in care delivery.
Professor Lucy Chappell, said the programme “highlights how the system can work together to improve outcomes… by linking data across sectors to support prevention, earlier intervention and more joined-up care closer to home.”
Initially integrated into the DHSC’s Care data matters roadmap under the previous Conservative government, the programme now aligns with the current government’s direction of travel set out in its 10 Year Health Plan focusing on moving care out of hospitals and into community settings, accelerating the transition from analogue to digital services, and prioritising prevention over treatment.
