I joined Cinnamon Care Collection in 2015 as GM, working with a Company and team who are passionate about delivering quality care and making a difference. I am excited and privileged to be given the opportunity to commission Sutton Park Grange.
Sutton Park Grange will be a home where quality and compassion are stitched into the very fabric of the building, combining luxurious surroundings with a genuinely passionate team, offering the highest standards of care and a warm atmosphere where our service users can live comfortable and fulfilled lives.
I train as a General Nurse in 1973 and has over 30 years of experience in the Senior care in a variety of management roles and prior to joining Cinnamon Care Collection was a Village Manager in Jersey managing a site with 2 homes and a ‘pub’
Born on the beautiful tropical Island of Penang in Malaysia, sunny and humid all year, strange as it may seem, I prefer the cooler climate in the spring and autumn.
I left my native land in my late teens to pursue my Nurse training in UK, arriving on a cold wintry March evening, overwhelmed in unfamiliar surroundings but grateful for the warmth and friendliness of my colleagues and locals in the beautiful village of Tiverton. I will always cherish fond memories of my early nursing days.
During my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends, walking for fitness, travelling, food and dancing and just started learning clay pigeon shooting.
The main part of my role within the homes is to meet families who are making enquiries for loved ones. A very sensitive time for most families and friends when choosing the right care home. I take time to understand why we are looking for a care home and to find out about the person, what they are like and their history, where they came from. It’s so interesting to hear about people and what they have gone through in their lives. I also go through managing the assessments with our teams and the paperwork before I hand over to our amazing care team and your new family.
I also work at the marketing for the home, arrange events and network within the local community.
I came into care by accident in 2015, however it’s the best thing that has happened. I love being in care. Although I’m not directly supporting our resident with their care needs, I can do other things like having a coffee and a chat or supporting a resident with a bit of shopping or going for a walk. I also support our families during what can be a difficult time for them.
I love living and am always meeting family and friends when I can. They are my everything, I am very grateful for the family I was born into. I love to travel as much as I can and aim for at least 5 holidays a year. The other half and I have just refurbished our first home together which has been a very interesting experience and a learning curve for the next one!!
As home administrator I lead the Admin team who deal with the Finance, HR and Administration functions for the home. It is a varied busy role but also highly enjoyable. As first point of contact for the home we are here to help in any way we can.
I have a wide range of experience from both the public and private sector. However, the last seven years I have spent in care. Working at the head office of a company who owned homes for adults with learning difficulties and mental health issues and then moving on to be an Administrator in a care home.
I have two adult children and a lop-eared rabbit named Nutmeg who enjoys my garden as much as I do but for different reasons, I plant it she eats it. I love traveling and anything creative from jewelry making to furniture painting.
