A Hampshire care home recently hosted the region’s largest-ever Drum Fit session, followed by a special talk from world record holder Louis Alexander.
The event brought together over 50 residents from several Cinnamon care homes for a lively celebration of movement and music at Mornington Court, showcasing the joys of modern residential care whilst supporting residents’ physical wellbeing through gentle exercise.
Brenda Edney, resident at Mornington Court, said: “Exercising as a group means a lot to me; it’s worth it!” Geoff Pride, Wellbeing & Lifestyle Manager of Cinnamon Care Collection, added: “It was fantastic to see all the residents from across our Hampshire homes come together to find their rhythm. Drum Fit is a brilliant way to combine physical exercise with cognitive coordination, but most importantly, it’s about the fun and social connection it creates.”
Later that afternoon, three-time world record holder Louis Alexander gave a talk on his global adventures, including his upcoming quest to kayak the world’s deadliest sea passages. Inspired by his grandfather, Louis aims to raise £1 million for dementia research through Race Against Dementia, using his endurance challenges to build awareness and support for those affected by the condition.
