Cinnamon Awards 2021

Every year the Cinnamon Awards ceremony applauds the outstanding work of special colleagues who go above and beyond to be the Cinnamon Difference.

This year however, our annual awards are extra special. This year we recognise the amazing efforts of all our Cinnamon teams through the uncertain times of the past year, and together we celebrate individual achievements along with team successes across the Cinnamon Luxury Care Home group.

The tremendous challenges over the last 18 months have taught us to adapt to changes around us, as the whole world reeled from a global pandemic brought on by COVID19, the likes we’ve never seen before.

Carole Hunt, Cinnamon Director said, “Two of our values have helped us through this period. These are that we are united through compassion, and we are passionate about people.”

The Cinnamon Awards fall into four equal categories which tributes award winning care homes, individual team members who have gone above and beyond their duties, and team groups who collectively and consecutively display our Cinnamon Difference core values.

Cinnamon in bloom award

The Cinnamon in Bloom competition was designed to promote pride in each care home and add colour and vibrancy. A tremendous effort was put into transferring our homes from green-fingered colleagues and residents, in particular our new-build care homes.

We had a putting green, overflowing hanging baskets which even Alan Titchmarch would be envious of and fresh produce that was grown in our own gardens. Competition was fierce for the Garden of the Year Award with a grand prize at stake of £1000 for the winning home, plus £500 for team members and residents to celebrate their achievements. Others prizes at stake were £500 worth of gardening vouchers for the five finalist category winners.

There can only be one winner. This year’s Cinnamon Garden of the Year 2021 Award goes to
Abbotswood Court.

Spirit of Cinnamon Award

The ‘Spirit of Cinnamon’ award is all about recognising the delivery of teamwork, excellent care and the very best service, and demonstrating the Cinnamon values day in, day out. For this award our judges looked for great feedback from residents, a positive outlook, high levels of support for each other and the wider home team, and a personal drive for excellence. The winning home got to take away £1000 for a team event, along with the Cinnamon Award trophy whilst the runner-up team was awarded £500 for a team event in their home.

Competition in this category was incredibly fierce, however we had to award a runners-up prize of £500 to JR & Gaylia, the Kitchen Team at Mornington Court whose fantastic efforts in supporting all of the southern homes throughout lockdown, working away from home with plans often changing at the last minute, whilst coming up with fresh ideas and providing much needed assistance did not go unnoticed. A very big thank you and well done, for all of your efforts.

The winning team handled every challenge calmly and with dedication during a difficult time in their own home, whilst working to support another care home some miles away.

Carole Hunt said “The very well-deserved winners of this award is the Rokewood Court Care Team. Huge congratulations, and we are so proud of you!”

Congratulations to all our Cinnamon Winners and thank you for taking part in this year’s competition!
