What I do
I am really pleased to have the opportunity to work as the General Manager at Sunnybank House. I am passionate about caring for people and dedicated in providing high quality and person-centered care, which enables us to make a difference to the lives of our residents. Sunnybank is a delight to work at, not just for me but for my team too.
I have been working in health and social care for over 20 years and I qualified as a registered nurse in 2005. In 2016, I joined the Cinnamon Care Collection as a Deputy Manager, then joined the Sunnybank team in 2018.
In my spare time, I love to be with my family and two dogs. I enjoy travelling and dining out as well.
What I do
I am here to help anyone who is looking for care, whether it be for themselves or a loved one. Finding the right care can be a tough decision for all involved, but I am here to help this process run as smoothly as possible and ensure the right care is provided.
I love meeting families, talking with them and listening to them. The best feeling is when we have a resident move in and they flourish in our wonderful home, cared for by our amazing team. You will soon feel like part of the family at Sunnybank House!
My Background I started my working life as a Healthcare Assistant in a nursing home which developed my passion for helping elderly people. Four years ago, I took an opportunity to work in a new home helping those who were looking for care. I am lucky that I’ve found a job I love doing and can help others come to a decision about their care.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and my friends. I also like to plan my next holiday adventure, as there are lots of places on my bucket list that I am yet to visit!
At Sunnybank we use local produce to create fresh, appealing meals that offer good nutritional content for our residents. I have been at Sunnybank for nine months now and I love it here. Getting to know the residents is one of my favourite parts of the job so I always try to make time to get out and say hello.
I have almost 10 years’ experience catering in care homes, the last eight and half years of which were spent working in my previous home. I have a BTEC Level 2 in Food Preparation and have qualifications in Nutrition and Food Safety Management, and extensive training in textured diets. I am also a registered Dignity Champion.
When I am not at work I spend time with my family – I have 12 nieces and nephews who keep me busy. I enjoy cycling and am a huge movie buff with over 600 films in my collection at home.
