We’d like to introduce our friendly Rokewood Court team who are determined to be the difference in senior care.
What I do:
I joined Cinnamon Care Collection in 2015 as GM, working with a Company and team who are passionate about delivering quality care and making a difference. I am excited and privileged to be given the opportunity to commission Rokewood Court.
Rokewood Court will be a home where quality and compassion are stitched into the very fabric of the building, combining luxurious surroundings with a genuinely passionate team, offering the highest standards of care and a warm atmosphere where our service users can live comfortable and fulfilled lives.
I train as a General Nurse in 1973 and has over 30 years of experience in the Senior care in a variety of management roles and prior to joining Cinnamon Care Collection was a Village Manager in Jersey managing a site with 2 homes and a ‘pub’
Born on the beautiful tropical Island of Penang in Malaysia, sunny and humid all year, strange as it may seem, I prefer the cooler climate in the spring and autumn.
I left my native land in my late teens to pursue my Nurse training in UK, arriving on a cold wintry March evening, overwhelmed in unfamiliar surroundings but grateful for the warmth and friendliness of my colleagues and locals in the beautiful village of Tiverton. I will always cherish fond memories of my early nursing days.
During my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends, walking for fitness, travelling, food and dancing and just started learning clay pigeon shooting.
What I do:
At Rokewood Court, one of my main objectives as the General Manager is to ensure the resident’s safety and wellbeing, and that their stay is as pleasant as possible.
I am responsible for the leadership and day-to-day running of the Home, working in partnership with the heads of department and the whole team. I have a key role in determining whether standards of practice are being maintained. I also have a duty of care to the staff, ensuring their wellbeing as well as supporting them to access training and development, always.
I have over 9 years, experience working in the Health and Social Care Sector at management level.
Most recently, I was the deputy manager for one of Cinnamon Care’s residential, and dementia care homes in London, where I further took on the role of Trainee General Manager, prior to joining Rokewood Court.
Before joining Cinnamon Care, I was the Head of Unit for a residential, palliative and dementia care home in London for 6 years. I gained vast knowledge and experience in care management in this role. However, an opportunity arose for me to move on in my career and share my knowledge and experience with one of social care’s innovative high-end care providers in Central London, as part of the commissioning team, in the role of Head of Memory Care.
I joined Rokewood Court, where the team – with its wealth of skills and experience, has been selected carefully to deliver nothing but the best in residential and dementia care.
I studied at the University of Bradford, where I obtained my Degree in Dementia Studies and completed a course in Dementia Care Mapping, as a certified user.
I personally aim to deliver excellent quality care at management and ‘hands on’ level. I believe in teamwork, coaching and mentoring the team for effective care delivery.
When I am not working, I enjoy cooking for friends and family, playing and watching tennis, taking long walks, watching movies, travelling and giving back to the community through my local Church- I am part of a group of people that visits and befriends the bereaved, the house bound and the sick, in their own homes and those in Hospital.
What I do:
I feel honored to be the Deputy Manager at Rokewood Court, assisting and supporting our General Manager to lead our dedicated team.
As the Deputy Manager I lead, mentor and support our wonderful care team, ensuring that the deliverance of care is second to none.
I enjoy getting to know our residents and their families and learning about our residents this is an important aspect in person centered care.
I monitor and engage in all aspects of care leading by example. I enjoy meeting with residents and their families to review care planning and linking to reputable services.
I enjoy working with our Activities Coordinator to assist with the provision of meaningful activities, events and trips in response to listening to our resident’s requests, likes and dislikes.
I have two teenage girls – growing, maturing quickly. I feel very proud of how independent and caring they both are. I enjoy spending time with my family.
I am a bit of an adventurer and enjoy trips that involve camping and road trips – from hiking on glaciers in Iceland to boating on the lakes of the Lake District.
I have a love of animals and at home I have three beloved, although mischievous cats and a young tortoise named Gonzales.
I have over 20 years of care experience which started when my father passed away as a teenager. I watched in awe as the nurses cared for him with such care and compassion in his final weeks. This prompted me into such a rewarding career path.
I have worked for various care providers – starting my career as a Healthcare Assistant, progressing and developing my skills and knowledge.
I have a passion for Dementia Care and have trained as a Dementia Care Trainer. I enjoy mentoring and coaching to share my knowledge and skills to ensure person-centered quality care is at the heart.
I joined Cinnamon Care collection because I believe we share the same moral – ‘Determined to be the difference!’
