My mum decided that she wasn’t coping well on her own and felt isolated with few visitors apart from me and a couple of other stalwarts. Having looked around Heathland House just after it opened I thought mum would be happy there, it looks and feels like a 5-star hotel when you walk in and gives you
a ‘warm hug’. Cost-wise it’s very comparable to most other care homes but has so much more to offer such as a dedicated private dining room for parties and other gatherings (booked this for my mum’s 95th birthday later this year), fully equipped cinema, lovely lounges, welcoming and open reception area with
coffee bar, hairdressing salon, fabulous spa bathroom which my mum loves to use, and a restaurant worthy of a top class hotel with excellent menus which change each day. There are also activities which all residents can join in, my mum likes to trot along in the afternoon to find out what’s going on. Without exception, the staff are lovely and very caring. My mum is happy there.
