What I Do

As the General Manager, I am responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day running of the home. My role is to ensure that every resident receives the highest standard of person-centred care in a safe, supportive and welcoming environment. I lead and develop a dedicated team, oversee compliance with CQC regulations, and maintain strong relationships with residents, families, and the wider community. With a focus on quality, compassion and professionalism, I strive to create a warm, homely setting where residents can live fulfilling and meaningful lives.

My Experience

I have been working in care for 22 years and have held a range of positions from Support Worker / Carer to Registered Manager. I have worked in both learning disabilities and elderly care, including dementia care and palliative care.
Before joining the team at Abbotswood, I was Deputy Manager in a medium-sized care home in Northampton caring for the elderly for just over five years. Before that, I worked with adults with learning disabilities and complex needs as Senior Support Worker, and worked my way up to become Registered Manager, a post I held for just over five years. I love the satisfaction of making a positive difference, however great or small, in the life of someone less able than I am, whatever stage of life they have reached.

Whilst working in care I have been lucky enough to receive several awards. In 2005, I was the runner-up in the National Registered Managers category of the National Care Awards and a Local Hero Award for Outstanding Achievement in Care run by the Salisbury Journal and Spire FM. I am proud of both these achievements.

About Me

When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my family and my horses.

What I Do

As Deputy Manager I work closely with Lea as part of the management team. I believe strongly in providing compassionate, individualised support that focuses on the person rather than the condition. My approach prioritises minimal use of medication, instead emphasising meaningful engagement and emotional wellbeing. I also feel it is vital to support families throughout their loved one’s dementia journey, offering guidance, empathy, and reassurance every step of the way.

My Experience

I have worked at Abbotswood Court for the past nine years, and I genuinely love what I do. My passion for supporting individuals living with dementia led me to complete a Master’s Degree in Person-Centred Care in Dementia at the University of Worcester.

About Me

I joined Abbotswood Court in 2016 and I strive to educate people, particularly families of those living with dementia, to recognise the positive impact of focusing on the abilities the person still has, rather than dwelling on the abilities they have lost. I am passionate about everyone being treated as an individual, continuing to develop the atmosphere of person-centred care at Abbotswood Court and encouraging my Care Team to achieve the best possible care.

I’m a Mum to my lovely daughter and a trainee doggy mum to my new puppy. So I’m kept very busy by both!

What I Do

As Deputy Manager, I support the Home Manager in ensuring our residents receive the highest standard of care in a safe, welcoming and homely environment. My role combines hands-on involvement with residents and families alongside leadership and guidance for our care team. I oversee day-to-day operations, staff training and compliance, making sure we meet both regulatory requirements and individual needs. Most importantly, I focus on creating a supportive, person-centred culture where residents can thrive and colleagues feel valued. I have so much passion looking after elderly people as it reminds me of my Grandma whom I’m very close to.  I have a real passion for looking after people living with dementia. I love to make a difference to every residents lives.

My Experience

I’m a Registered Nurse from the Philippines having worked for 5 years in a hospital before I moved to the UK. I worked in a Nursing Home for 10 years as a shadow nurse before I joined Abbotswood Court in October 2015. I have achieved a number of different qualifications in Care over the past 16 yrs.

Being part of the Abbotswood Court Team has helped me grow and becoming Deputy Manager has made me feel so proud and is a dream come true!  My journey at Abbotswood Court started as a Senior Carer with promotion to Team Leader and now as Deputy Manager which I enjoy every single day – challenging but I love a challenge!

About Me

When I’m not at work, I love spending quality time with my family. Whether we’re out shopping, enjoying a meal together, or simply relaxing at home, I cherish every moment. With three children, there’s always something fun going on — from days out and playtime to cosy, lazy days at home sharing takeaways and laughter.

What I Do

My job involves helping people make difficult decisions about residential care, introducing them to our fabulous team and helping them to understand and experience the superb lifestyle residents enjoy at Abbotswood Court.

I love to see our residents thrive in such a safe, caring and stimulating environment. I enjoy guiding our new residents and their family members through this life changing move with lots of help, continuing support and encouragement.

My Experience

Before joining Cinnamon, I worked as the Marketing Manager at Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital, where I was responsible for promoting the hospital’s services and organising information events and open days. I supported individuals preparing for elective surgery, ensuring they had clear, reassuring information every step of the way. To gain a deeper understanding of the procedures, I had the privilege of observing a wide range of operations, from intricate spinal surgeries and total knee replacements to cataract removals which I found truly fascinating! The role gave me valuable insight into the apprehension people often feel when making important decisions about their health, and taught me how knowledge, empathy and clear communication can bring real reassurance, an approach that continues to shape my work here.

Prior to my time with Nuffield Health, I worked for many years at the Southern Daily Echo as an Advertising Executive.

About Me

I live nearby with my family and have a fondness for Romsey and the surrounding area. I enjoy walking my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel ‘Alfie’ when I’m not running around after my two children.
